ABOUT Change-maker village
Created by a diverse, all-women team of Disney alumni and a Forbes-celebrated Cultural Editor, Change-Maker Village is an anti-racist children's book that released on Apple Books November 2, 2020.
The book takes readers of all ages on an emotional journey when two 9-year-old best friends, Mandisa, who is Black, and Rose, who is white, encounter racism for the first time. After this experience, and a powerful talk between the two, they make a pact to create and inspire change in their community right away.
With the help of their parents, Mandisa and Rose host an event called "Change-Maker Village." It is a day that encourages reading, donating, learning and listening. That day, Mandisa and Rose perform Mandisa’s original song titled "400 Years," which you can download on Apple Music.
Each book comes with an official Change-Maker Certificate, along with resources including a list of organizations, anti-racist book lists for both children and adults, and additional action items for all ages.
Profits will go to the NAACP.
